Hello Family and Friends,
Well, as our driver Godfrey told us the other day...TIA. We asked what this meant, and he said, "This is Africa." He told us this while we were sitting in our three hour session with the probation officer. So, that phrase keeps coming to mind when things don't go quite as we would like. We are going on 36 hours of no running water. The girls that are helping us at the house are filling up jugs of water to bring upstairs so that we can flush the toilet and take small baths. The simple things we take for granted in the states! I guess water and power outages are quite common here as they shut off certain areas for periods of time to make sure everyone has enough. It looks like when we do get our water back, it will continue to just be cold water. That we can live with though. We just wanting running water!!!
Mark, Dave and Livingstone went into Kampala today with the girls with the help of Godfrey to get their TB test results read. So, it was a little daddy/daughter outing. It was better than five of us cramped into the back of a Camry...so Rachelle and I took a little rest here while they went. No TB for either girl - Praise the Lord once again!
We did get the final signature today for our affidavits from Mr. Kaferro, so that is great. Our motion was entered into court on Friday, so we are just praying for a court date this week!
Fiona was sweet as always today. She and Rachael talked and sang a lot, which is always a joy to listen to. When we get frustrated with this process, we just look at them and know why we are here. Today, they were singing, "All the children of the world." It was so cute. Fiona had on her famous teal skirt today, which seems to be her favorite. It has sparkles and flowers all over it, so just in case you were wondering, she is definitely a girly girl!
Tomorrow we will go to church and then be looking for good news from Peter on Monday.
Also, ended this day with a great prayer with Florence and Linvingston. We love to listen to them pray and they are beautiful people!

P.S. We also end this day with no electricity which equals no fan tonight! It's hot! Florence and Livingston said we are becoming true Ugandans! :)

ReplyDeleteLove to hear your Fiona details. It makes us feel so close. It also sheds new light on what we often take for granted! Praying that the court will be settled quickly and your family will be back soon...and in the meantime, a little runnung water would be good! TIA.

It was great to "see" you both yesterday via the wonders of technology! I'm sure it was HOT night near the equator with no fans :( Oh, the stories you will have to tell! Our thoughts and prayers are with you throughout each day as you are on this adventure of a lifetime.

We're all waiting with "baited breath" at Harris Prairie. What does that mean? Does Rachel have "baited breath" now that she has eaten a grasshopper? Love reading about the girls, but wish you weren't having to deal with so many difficulties. God is definitely growing all of you. We spent the whole Sunday School hour in prayer this morning, and you were high on our list of prayer requests. We are trusting that God is going to put all the details together so you can bring the girls home soon. Can't wait to see you all back here.

ReplyDeleteWe're eager for good news tomorrow but know that no matter what God's definitely working for you. We definitely sent you extra prayers while we were in church today, Paige wasn't wanting to stay in KWAP so she came and found us and made me think of Fiona being with you in church as well. I hope you got some power back at some point to day, oh, and water too. We had lunch after church at Hacienda and we made sure to have some chips and queso just for you Dave!
