Day 6

It was one week ago today that we left for Uganda. Today started with a 7:00 a.m. phone call from our lawyers assistant. She recommended Mark come in for a visit before Peter went into court for the day, so he left right away to meet with him. Both of our cases were allocated to judges, and both to judges we were not wanting. So, a new plan has been put into place. Instead of seeking legal guardianship, Peter is re-writing our application to ask for adoption instead. Typically this is not an option, but they do make exceptions to this and since the wording of the orders seems to be such an issue right now, he is hoping this might work. Also, by re-writing the applications, he has one more opportunity to present it to the registrar's office and pray that they get picked up by the judge we are seeking. If so, we would be seen on Friday. The registrar is being extremely difficult in allocating the cases...but he is now out for the week, so Peter is going to ask the supervisor of the registrars office to look at our cases and negotiate getting them re-allocated. Otherwise, we will have to take our chances with the judges we have been assigned to. The problem there again is that they may not write the order in a way that the US Embassy will be happy with...which is who needs to issue the visas.

So, we ask for your prayers tonight that God will work in a mighty way and bring us in front of a judge who will write an order acceptable to the US Embassy. We know God has a plan in all of this, and while we cannot see it right now, we believe. The orphan officer in the US is saying there is some information missing to prove that the girls are orphans...this could be a very simple thing and hope that it is information we can easily supply. It seems rather silly in a country with 2+ million orphans and no solid legal records of any type. Peter should be able to help us get what we need, but we need to find out exactly what is missing first!

Tomorrow morning we take the girls to their medical reviews. We ask for your prayer with this as well.

Today was another fun day with the girls. Fiona's personality is really bursting out. She brought her teddy bear with her today, that she calls her baby and it was dressed in African attire that Scovia made for her. She ate well again today and finished her plate at both lunch and dinner (as well as whatever was left on dad or mom's plate). She does not leave a thing to spare! She played lots of hide and seek, sang a lot and is repeating everything we say...it is too cute! We also went on a long walk around Gaba.

Hope to bring you lots of new updates tomorrow. Thanks again for all your love, support and prayers. We are a little homesick and miss our family, friends and especially Tyler! Water was back on today, so that was great! And, Dave only got chased by one bat today too!

Lots of love to you all!

Sara and Dave
