So, my blog post yesterday was titled Court Tomorrow...and you will see my update today is titled, Or Not. What a day this has been. On our way to Sarah's office this morning, we received a phone call from her that Judge OKello had told her clerk to send our files back to the registrar to be reassigned. Sarah was on her way to the courthouse to see what she could do. So we headed to her office and sat to wait for her.
When she arrived, she said that Judge OKello told her that she would not hear any new cases and she was refusing all new files. (Even though we had a court hearing scheduled!) She was able to sit and talk to Judge OKello though and got Judge OKello to put a note on both of our files to to the registrar to please reassign our cases to a new judge. Sarah felt this was a really good thing and so at 2:30 we went to the courthouse with her to meet with the registrar in person. The registrar first said that it would be the end of August before we could be seen and then asked if we were willing to take a gamble. One of his clerks said that Judge Muanguisha had said he could help and see some cases on Thursday of this week. We have heard that he is out right now...but this is what we were told? Sarah was told to come back on Wednesday to confirm this and if it is a go we will see him on Thursday morning. We fly out on Thursday night late, so nothing like the 11th hour. The registrar said if this does not work, we need to plan on the end of August. We have no idea how quickly Muanguisha would come back with a ruling.
So, that is where things stand right now. It was disappointing to a certain extent to not have our hearing today, but Sarah thinks we stand a better chance for an adoption ruling in front of Muanguisha. God obviously did not want us to go before OKello. We prayed a lot yesterday and asked God to move mountains for us today...I guess He did. :)
Both Fiona and Rachel did great today...it was a lot of waiting! We ate lunch at a Ugandan buffet type restaurant. Dave did not realize it until after he ate it, but he ate some goat. He did not like it...lots of bones!
God is in control here. Sarah kept saying, "sometimes our plan is not God's plan." She is right and we are glad to have her as our attorney. She told us that as all this was happening, she was praying for God to help her. We continue to trust in His plan.
Love and miss you all!
Sara and Dave

I feel for you! From what I've heard, Okello is very unreliable. We're all behind you!
ReplyDeleteThis adventure is full of twists and turns, isn't it?? As you, we are trusting in God's plan. He can see the whole picture... and will reveal it to you step by step. Looking forward to your return home and hoping won't be long before the girls can follow :)

We've been praying and trusting God to put things together according to His plan. It's hard for us to accept that plan at times, but trusting Him is so much easier than charging ahead on our own. I'm praying that this new judge will show us a miracle and move this process ahead quickly.
ReplyDeleteI thank God for your faith and trust that He will give you the strength and patience you need to see this through.
Stay safe!!!
Love the new blog look! Hoping & praying that things will go well on Thursday and everything goes in your favor. Will be sending lots more prayers your way!
ReplyDeleteKeep trusting in His plan for you! Praying and believing with you here!!
